The One with Another Bachelorette Party

Over Labor Day weekend, I went to another bachelorette party for a friend. We went to San Antonio, and the whole weekend was planned by her sister and was a total surprise to her. First, we went to Sea World. I have not been there since the 5th grade, and I had so much fun! We rode all the roller coasters several times and went to the Shamu and Viva shows. All the bridesmaids had bought Sara a Beluga interaction that we all got to watch. First, they take everyone behind the scenes of Viva and show you a tape about Beluga whales. Then, the trainers show you how they train the whales. It is all done by positive reinforcement, and it takes 3-4 years to get them show ready. I found all of this really fascinating and was ready to change careers until I found out they start at $7.50 an hour. That's typical for the science field unfortunately. The Beluga experience was alot of fun, and I highly recommend it if you go to Sea World. It was so amazing to be so close to such amazing creatures.

Next, we all went to our hotel to get ready for the evening. We had a really great dinner at Italia on the riverwalk. One of the waiters kept coming by and singing to us. The we went to Howl at the Moon which is a piano bar. I love piano bars! We have one in Austin called Pete's, and even though they all play the same songs, I can't get enough. My friend Debs, who doesn't drink often was very tipsy and very entertaining! We all had a great time!

Good morning, Lish. Michele sent me!

You're right about the science field, it doesn't pay well. But a lot of other fields don't pay well to start either. Unfortunately with science it often stays that way.

Your trip to San Antonio looked like it was very fun. It also sparked an idea in me. I think all women should, at least occasionally, wear wetsuits. I found that very becoming. In fact my pulse is only now returning to normal. LOL

I haven't been to San Antonio in over 20 years and didn't even realize that there was a Sea World there now. Glad you had fun there...

I haven't been to Sea World in ages either, but your time sounds like so much fun I might have to make up an excuse to go sometime.

Sea World... oh it's been so long since I've been there! My cousin started out training the dolphins and acting in one of the shows with them and she adored it, then she had to move and now she's working in marketing. I think she'd take the paycut any day to be back with her precious watery babies!

Oh, and Michele sent me :)

Glad you had a good time at the bachelorette party. What an honor to be so close to a beluga. Too bad the trainers are so poorly paid. Maybe as science does more PR for itself people will get more as guest speakers to supplement the income?

Michele sent me along today.

That sounds like a great weekend! I love piano bars, too! We don't have many around here, but what a good time!

Sounds like an awesome weekend!!! I am so jealous about the beluga experience!!! I used to want to be a dolphin and whale trainer for many years before I became a boring nurse.
